Planmed Verity® in action at the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Finland

Planmed contributes to organizing the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, held in Finland on May 13–29, 2022, by providing the Planmed Verity® extremity scanner for the on-site emergency rooms both at Helsinki Ice Hall and Nokia Arena in Tampere.

The Planmed Verity® CBCT scanner will be used to diagnose fractures in extremities and the maxillofacial area, as well as dental injuries, at the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship.

It will help the medical staff to provide high-quality first aid treatments at a fast pace throughout the tournament. It has already been successfully used in this capacity at the World Championship in previous years and has received positive feedback for its performance.

Jan Moed, Planmed’s Managing Director, is very enthusiastic about providing the scanner to such a distinguished event.

“It’s great to be able to supply our Planmed Verity scanner to the IIHF World Championship,” Moed states. “As a mobile and easy-to-use device, Planmed Verity can also be used in a non-typical environment, such as ice hockey arenas. From experience we know that it is very useful as it acquires a 3D image of the entire area of interest at once which leads to diagnosing injuries quickly and helps players and teams to focus on the most important; their games.”

The Planmed Verity scanner is accompanied by another Planmeca Group state-of-the-art solution, the Planmeca Compact™ i Classic dental care unit.

The Planmeca Compact i Classic unit is designed to support the workflow of the entire dental team. Built for comfort and ease of use, the unit offers superior ergonomics for the dentist and a relaxing treatment experience for the patient. At the World Championship, the dental unit will help in diagnosing dental injuries and giving first-aid treatment.

The IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship begins with the preliminary-round matches on May 13, 2022. The tournament will culminate in the gold medal and bronze medal games in Tampere on May 29.
